What is a Postpartum Doula?

A Postpartum Doula is a non-medical person who supports women and families in the immediate postpartum period following birth. This 12 week period is also known as the fourth trimester. Postpartum Doulas are dedicated to supporting and empowering families through providing quality care and evidence-based education/guidance.

What services are provided by a Postpartum Doula?

Postpartum Doulas are all-encompassing of a family’s needs in the Fourth Trimester. The needs of every family will look different however, the care provided often includes the following:

  • Practical and emotional support of the mother and partner

  • Support with breastfeeding and any of your feeding goals

  • Newborn care (so you all can rest!)

  • Assistance with meal prep, laundry, and other non-medical help that your family needs 


What is the process of booking Postpartum Doula services?

  1. We would first begin with a consultation to determine your family’s needs. This is free of charge.

  2. An in-person meeting will be conducted. We will solidify our game plan for your fourth trimester

  3. Contract signing 

  4. Prenatal visit

  5. Services will begin once baby is born or home

How much does it cost to book your services as a Postpartum Doula?

Rates for Nia’s Nest start at $35/hour with a 4 hour minimum for non-overnights and an 8 hour minimum for overnights. Non-refundable deposit is equal to one week’s worth of services (this varies from family to family) is due at the time of contract signing and will be applied to your last week of care.

Can I book a Postpartum Doula even though my baby is already born?

YES! The booking process will look different and will have to be expedited so we can assist you and your family as quickly as possible. Contact me via the contact page to book a consultation.

Are you available for a nanny position?

At this time, I am only accepting bookings for postpartum doula clients. I am happy to refer you to a local nanny agency!

What precautions do you take in terms of COVID-19?

I take my health and the health of all my families I care for seriously. I am COVID-19 vaccinated, up to date on all other vaccinations, follow mask mandates, and undergo regular rapid and PCR testing.
